Favourite Holiday Venues

Pierrechamps If you are looking for a gîte holiday in France, this is one of our favourite places on earth. The house sleeps four people comfortably. It is in southern Burgundy, near Charolles - to be precise, on the D91 between St-Bonnet-de-Joux and Marizy. This area is the home of Charolais cattle, but the wine is grown not far away, and local restaurateurs are expert in combining the two.

Seven Days in Danubia I spent a year in eager anticipation of this holiday, and was delighted to find my expectations exceeded. We travelled on board a cruise-ship on the River Danube between Passau, on the German--Austrian border, and Komarom in Hungary, and went to ten excellent concerts during the week. In 2008, my elder daughter and I cycled along the Danube from Passau to Grein (Upper Austria). We booked with the Holiday Fellowship and had such a good time that we are actively planning a similar tour of the lakes in the Salzkammergut in July 2009. Last year we also visited Vienna; we will be back again this year, plus a similar length of time in Prague, and a couple of days in Bruges for the exhibition on Charles the Bold.
